The Singapore Student Pass, demystified

Issued by the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA), the Student Pass is your visa to study full-time in Singapore. Here’s the full process.

The process

Six steps from offer to e-Pass

01

Receive your offer letter

Once your institution issues an unconditional offer, they will register you with ICA for SOLAR.

02

Submit SOLAR (eForm 16 & V36)

Within 2 weeks of registration. We help you complete forms and prepare digital photos and documents.

03

Receive your In-Principle Approval (IPA)

Typically 2–4 weeks. IPA acts as a single-entry visa to enter Singapore.

04

Travel to Singapore

Book flights, arrange accommodation, and prepare originals of all documents listed in your IPA letter.

05

Medical examination

Required for stays over 6 months. We arrange this at MOH-approved clinics in your first week.

06

e-Pass collection at ICA

Visit ICA with your appointment slip, IPA, passport and medical report. Your Student Pass is issued the same day.

FAQs

Common questions

How long does the Student Pass process take?

From SOLAR submission to IPA, typically 2–4 weeks. e-Pass is issued on the day of your ICA appointment.

Full-time international students at approved institutions can work up to 16 hours per week during term and full-time during vacation.

There is no fixed amount, but ICA expects evidence of tuition + ~SGD 12,000–18,000 per year for living expenses.

Our 98% approval rate means rejection is rare. If it happens, we review the case with you and assist with appeal or alternative pathways.
